What Can you expect from a massage therapist and what should you not to expect

If you have a healthy mind and a healthy body it is natural to have sensations of someone else's touch on your skin. These touches can be pleasant and pleasant. In some therapeutic modalities, this touch can be painful and in others it can be relaxing or pleasurable.
You can always inform your therapist if something bothers you. It can be anything, like the scents, pillows, music, lighting of the place and even the pressure of the therapist's touches if they cause some kind of discomfort. In some cases it may be necessary or simply inevitable to experience some discomfort, but the therapist must always respect your limits of pain and discomfort, adapting to your unique pattern of sensitivity to touch.

This does not mean that you can physically touch your therapist (unless your permission or request) or interpret the sensations of touch as something personal connected to emotional emotions. Enjoy your moment of relaxation and feel all the pleasure that your body is capable of feeling, but do not confuse the pleasant sensations of touch with a possible seductive interaction from your therapist. Unless you are in an environment where the term massage and therapists serve only as a band to disguise other types of procedures, respect your therapist and your job.

Each therapist can follow a different line of approach for the same type of treatment, so you may find some differences in therapist-to-therapist procedures. But there are basic and fundamental principles that permeate all therapeutic approaches. And you have every right to ask your therapist what fundamentals, approaches and needs are being considered for your treatment.

There is a multitude of face-to-face and distance learning courses on the market with the most varied modalities and applications in all areas of health therapies, regulated or not, and professionals with degrees or certificates in various skills. But remember, holistic therapies, although recognized and categorized in Brazil (see Ministry of Labor website through the link - http://www.mtecbo.gov.br/cbosite/pages/home.jsf) still need regulation. For this reason, there is a huge range of professionals on the market defending different approach techniques for the same goals. Use and abuse your consumer rights to understand the qualifications and technical properties on which your therapist is based.

Some maneuvers and trigger points can activate strong emotions that may surface at the time of therapy and you can take the time to say what you want, as it is part of the mental and spiritual detoxification process and helps to relieve the internal and stressful pains that somatize the physical pains of the body.
The therapist must demonstrate empathy and understand that each patient may be in need of venting emotions and venting. But note that not every therapist has the skills and understanding to deal with their emotional issues and there is no regulation in the legislation that guarantees professional secrecy, as in the case of a properly regulated profession like that of psychologists.
